NaDEET Staff recently visited seven schools in the Rehoboth area. A short drama focusing on environmental problems and solutions and NaDEET’s video was shown to learners and teachers. Almost all of the schools immediately made a
booking to participate in a Centre programme with the generous funding of the EU. It is a very successful start into the New Year and we look forward to the first learners at NaDEET Centre as of the first week of March.
365 trees are planted! After a two day trip to plant 60 trees in Rehoboth at the end of November, the last tree was planted by NaDEET staff in front of NaDEET Centre. NaDEET's 365 Trees Project has given community members an additional way to combat climate change- a new tree in their backyard. This project has made many local residents happy as most people's yards are just dirt and have very little vegetation. May they grow and become big!
During the last tree planting trip, ten parabolic solar cookers were handed over to community members that have completed our programme. In total NaDEET has distributed over 70 solar cookers since 2010.
Three community groups from southern Namibia have recently completed NaDEET's community education programme. After completing a practical course in solar cooking, fuel-efficient stove use and many other practical hands-on sustainable living tips, community members return home with the necessary equipment to implement what they have learned. Since starting this programme, NaDEET has given out more than 60 solar cookers to communities.
