Viktoria Keding is the director and co-founder of the Namib Desert Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET). Viktoria has spearheaded all aspects of NaDEET including management, teaching and the development of programmes, activities and educational materials. She is passionate about environmental education and believes that we must all live a sustainable lifestyle to create positive change for our environment. Of German parents, Keding was raised in the United States and completed her university degree in Environmental Studies at Bowdoin College. For the past twelve years she has lived in Namibia with her husband and two daughters.
Andreas Keding: As Technical Director, Andreas is responsible for all aspects of construction, maintenance and all other technical work at NaDEET. This includes installation and maintenance of NaDEET's sustainable technology including solar equipment and water systems. He was previously a Senior Ranger with NRNR and guide with Okonjima, home of the Africat Foundation. With land use management/nature conservation qualifications from the Polytechnic of Namibia, Andreas has superb knowledge of Namibian flora and fauna.
Karley Drumm: Centre Manager/Environmental Educator. Karley hails from the USA and is a US Peace Core Volunteer. With qualifications in psychology and education, Karley is an experienced educator and committed environmentalist.
Manuela Schmid is NaDEET's Development Associate. Manuela’s portfolio includes human resources, bookkeeping, donor relations and general office management. Manuela is passionate about the environment, especially the Namib Desert, and she is a long term committee member of NEWS.
Elizabeth Lammert: As NaDEET's Sustainable Living Kitchen Manager, Elizabeth is responsible for teaching participants how to utilise the sun’s energy more effectively by preparing meals utilising solar ovens and cookers. Elizabeth also co-authored It’s Time to Solar Cook. With the ever growing number of people attending NaDEET’s programmes, Elizabeth ensures sufficient supplies are always available.
Absalom Vilho: Vilho is our newest Conservation In-Service Training student. He is a 3rd year student originating from the Kavango Region. Vilho has quickly become a valuable member of the NaDEET team as Centre Assistant. He is also investigating the efficiency of fuel-efficient stoves and will be reporting his results in the first week of November to the Polytechnic of Namibia.
